A brothel off the coast of Montauk? What a clever concept the writer had because the idea could or may just be going on….
I thought the style of writing set the tone for the storyline! The book was very enjoyable, easy to read for the summer and I loved getting to know the characters! It made me feel like I may have even known some of them!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Small town secrets and the mystery of the sea…., May 12, 2013

I am a reader who needs a book to grab me within the first chapter, or else I put it down and walk away. I picked this up on a lazy, afternoon yesterday and was finished by the wee hours of the night. This book captured my intrigue within the first few pages (and held it until the end) as it is very well written and has interesting, complex characters. I loved the backdrop of Montauk and feel the writer truly captured (any) small town living and the many secrets it usually holds (as well as the impossibility of keeping them). I also love a great mystery and this one had my guessing, and second guessing, my original thoughts. Finally, I feel the writer captured the complexity of relationships and the power of loyalty and unconditional love. Nancy is an excellent writer and also writes in a very engaging style. Her writing has you thinking…just one more chapter…and before you know it, you are reading the last page and now groggy-eyed writing a rave review. I thoroughly enjoyed the hours lost in these pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fun read., April 11, 2013
By Gregory Monaco (East Hampton, N.Y.)
I picked up the book during my lunch just to see what it was about. Next thing I know I was scrambling to get back to work because the page or two I intended to read turned into much more. Its one of those books that the only bad thing about it is when your nearing the end you know your journey in the book is coming to a close and you want to keep reading on. Fun and intelligent read.

This book has real characters and each is genuine and soulful. They feel authentic and gritty as they meet and journey in the story. With twists and turns it is a great read. Surprises and excitement keep the reader glued to the book. When you think you have it figured out guess again. Facts seem more real then fiction. Every fishing village has a reputation and Montauk’s pretty exceptional. Enjoy the read.

a great summer read. More than I expected from this first-time author. Quite a few surprises through out the book, especially
the ending. Very entertaining and original. Awaiting Ms. Lagarenne’s next project soon.
